Appalachian Alchemy's May CSA features the herb Dandelion!
Dandelion is one of the most important herbs of spring.  Dandelion is used as a spring detox tonic for the kidneys, liver, and other digestive organs, as a blood builder and purifier.
Each share contains the following:
Dandelion Blossom Oxymel - The word “Oxymel” comes from ancient Greek, literally meaning “Acid and Honey,” being an herbal preparation made with vinegar and honey.  This non-alcoholic tangy-sweet tonic is such a delightful way to get dandelion into your daily routine.  Take 20-30 drops of this liquid sunshine as needed.  Use within six months for best results.

Dandelion Blossom Jelly Enjoy a wildflower foraged jelly on toast, biscuits, or even in your morning tea. This jelly has a vibrant, sweet flavor with a hint of orange.   It tastes like honey and is one of my favorite seasonal treats.  This jar is shelf-stable but must be refrigerated after opening. Use within two months for best taste.

Eyes of the World - Morning blend loose leaf tea- This blend of herbs invites peace, creativity, and focus to your morning.   Yerba mate provides the kick you need to start your day while the other herbs work hard to nourish your body.  If you are looking to drop the jitters and other negative aspects of coffee, I welcome you to try this light and playful blend.  Roasted Dandelion root has a very earthy coffee-like flavor that is used in many coffee replacement recipes.  Add two tablespoons to your brewing vessel of choice, pour over 16oz of boiling water, and steep for 15-20 min. Add honey or your dandelion jelly to sweeten. I LOVE adding Silk brand vanilla soy creamer.

Sunshine Daydream Herbal Bitters - Bitters is a specially formulated herbal tincture regularly used to rebalance the digestive system over time and/or utilized acutely upon digestive upset for instant relief heartburn indigestion, bloating, etc. Bitters help stimulate digestion, detoxify the liver, and even help our body break down heavy sugars faster. This can come in handy after a night of overindulgence of food or alcohol. Take one teaspoon daily as a spring tonic to detoxify the liver, kidney, stomach, and GI tract.  In acute situations, take one teaspoon 15 minutes before a heavy meal or after a meal if indigestion occurs.

Pollinator Seed Paper - Recycled paper with dahlia, bee balm, and zinnia flowers. Simply place on dirt and water daily.  As paper breaks down, your flowers will start to grow!
